Hospitality Purchasing Managers’ Forum (HPMF), an association of Materials and Procurement Managers of the hospitality industry, will have their 9th annual convention and awards at Kochi between October 10 to 13. According to Nitin Nagrale, Founder & General Secretary of HPMF around 250 delegates both from India and abroad will participate in the three-day event slated at the Grand Hyatt Kochi Hotel and Convention Centre.

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) recently conducted second batch of the Fire Marshals Training programme for hotels and restaurants in the city. The training activity was held at the Mumbai Fire Brigade headquarters in Byculla and was conducted under the supervision of the Mumbai Fire Chief & Director - Directorate of Maharashtra Fire Services – Dr. Prabhat Rahangdale and team. More than 118 employees from several hotels and restaurants across the city received training on the different aspects of fire safety.

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the signing of a Vivanta hotel in Manipal, Udupi, Karnataka. This hotel is a management contract with Harinath Builders & Developers Pvt. Ltd., a sister concern of Ballal Developers Ltd. This will be IHCL’s 17th hotel in Karnataka. Vivanta is IHCL’s collection of upscale hotels and resorts catering to smart travellers seeking unique experiences.

The Fern Hotels & Resorts has recently introduced The Fern - An Ecotel Hotel, an upscale hotel in Lonavla, located 90 kilometres from Mumbai. The Fern, Lonavala an 80-room hotel spread over 2 acres offers quintessential hill charm. The hotel also offers banquet halls, a swimming pool and poolside lawns along with an all day dining multi cuisine restaurant - Glass House Cafe; a restro bar - Leaf and Stalk; and a lounge bar Twylight Lounge. The property is close to the Lonavala market.

Sobit Sarovar Portico, Palolem Goa has recently launched by Amit Prabhu, Owner of Prabhu Realtors, and Ajay Bakaya, Managing Director, Sarovar Hotels & Resorts. Located just 500 metres away from South Goa’s Palolem beach. The hotel designing is done by architect Kundan Prabhu, with interiors by Rohan Timple and Sameer Reddies, and landscapes by architect Abha Sapre.
