A profitable year:
Royal Orchid could register a significant growth in operating profit in the tier 2 and upcoming business districts of India with the groups timely presence. During the fiscal year, the consolidated Revenue was Rs 142.04 cr , as compared to Rs 160.30 cr in the previous year, but the operating profit of the Standalone has increased from Rs 7.78 cr in the previous year to Rs 17.98 cr registering a growth of 130 per cent.

We have recently launched a property in Kenya Nairobi- Hotel Royal Orchid Azure. This is Royal Orchid’s second hotel in Africa and adds to Royal Orchid Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza, Tanzania, which opened in 2013. With the addition in Nairobi, Royal Orchid hotels will have an attractive offering of the African Safari circuit. Moreover, the group will be looking for more properties to manage untapped areas in Africa like Rwanda and Dar-Es- Salaam.

New hope:
With the new Government coming in, there is new hope. The campaign ‘Make in India’, of new Government aims at making India into a global manufacturing hub and creating huge employment opportunities in the country, besides boosting trade and economic growth. Introduction of ETA for foreign travellers by Government of India is expected to boost the hotel industry in the country. With the establishment of number of Indian and International hotels in last few years, there has been more supply. With this move, inflow of tourists will be more resulting in more demand which will greatly benefit the hotels.

The fiscal 2014 was a momentous year for Royal Orchid with entry into international waters with hotels in Tanzania and Nairobi. We are on an expansion drive and in 2015 we are looking at doubling the keys to 4000 rooms through Management Contract and are exploring tourists destinations in East Africa and Srilanka.
