Funbars Hospitality and Viacom18 Consumer Products have jointly launched the MTV themed restaurant, FLYP@MTV in the premium business and shopping hub, Connaught Place, in New Delhi recently. Designed to capture the evolving ‘urban youth’, the outlet has all elements –food and drinks, fun and entertainment, technology, etc. – to lure the aspirational urban youth.
Flyp@MTV provides the ‘young at heart’ an opportunity to experience MTV in its entirety and interact with it through engaging touch points at the café, specially curated entertainment and an exclusive menu created by celebrity Chef Ranveer Brar.
Flyp@MTV is conceptualized as a unique destination for patrons to Work,Chill and Play. A unique facet of the café is its nature of being an exclusive place to work during the day and transforming into a place to chill in the evening and a play zone at night. The café houses a shower area for customers to change and get ready for the party after work, as well as a recording room, where people can record their songs and upload it through social media channels after due reviews.
At FLYP@MTV, besides the usual MTV touch, it is the technology that makes the engagement wholesome for the youth. A Digital AR Traveller provides an interactive world map to choose countries and click selfies with the icons of the selected country on the background. A 22” Chef’s recommendation Hologram on a touch screen will present chef’s most popular dishes in a hologram. The screen on the table will also help customers to identify similar interest groups in the café and begin a conversation. The outlet also presents an MTV wall where MTV branded merchandises are displayed.
Speaking at the launch, Neeren Tewari, Director, Funbars Hospitality said that MTV has a brand association with the youth, and it is both global and at the same time local in its presentation. Therefore, at every touch point, the designers have tried to incorporate a “quirky” element. “The youth love quirky stuff,” he said. “The Flyp pouch we serve cocktails in has been received well by the customers,” he said.
Talking about the expansion plan, Tewari said that they have a five-year agreement with MTV to develop 10 FLYP@MTV outlets across India. After Delhi, Funbars Hospitality is close to finalise deals for Mumbai and Bengaluru, he said. These outlets are expected to become operational by June-July, 2016, he informed.
Commenting on the culinary delight at FLYP@MTV, Chef Brar said that the concept was “inspired cuisine” which has roots in Delhi and paired with international flavours. |
