Plans to enlist 2,000 hotels across categories in one year

Introducing a novel concept in optimum utilization of vacant hotel inventory, few hotel and IT professionals from Chennai got together to launch an online platform, Slicerooms.com, to enable hotels to sell their vacant inventory for short-time hourly stay. The target audience for Slicerooms.com is business travelers or pilgrim tourists, who want to use hotel rooms for few hours for quick change and refreshments.

Sharing the concept of Slicerooms.com with Hospitality Biz, A Laxman, Founder of the company said, “I usually travel to Delhi and Mumbai for impromptu meetings which may be for two to three hours. As a hotelier myself, I was able to immediately connect to the idea that so many busy executives and businessmen out there are in need of hotel rooms for a short stay of two or three hours across all major cities and town in India. These short stay rooms are in demand across all hotel categories right from star hotels to the local standard hotels. This was the inspiration behind Slicerooms.com.”

Normally around 10% of the guests in a hotel check out early in the morning for some obvious reasons. These rooms are vacant from 7 am or 8 am to 2 pm daily, which is the usual check in time. These rooms are the inventory for Slicerooms and we shall try to utilize these rooms as sellable rooms for a hotel, says Laxman. “For those hotels partnering with us, we market these rooms through slicerooms.com. The slicerooms.com site is a virtual market where both buyer (customers) and seller (hotels) meet to fulfill their needs,” informs Laxman.

In less than a month of its launch, Slicerooms.com has enlisted around 25 hotels across categories pan-India. They have plans to add another 100 hotels by March end. “Our target is to have at least 2,000 hotels from one to 5-Star as our partners by March, 2017,” Laxman said.

“Travel has become shorter and convenient which means long stays may not be always required hence the Sliceroom concept will drive the future. Slicerooms helps keep the hotel coffers ringing while providing safe, comfortable and affordable hotel stays to the customers,”he said explaining the relevance of the platform in the rapidly changing travel market place.
