Planet Hollywood Goa An Artist’s Impression

Wednesday, January 18, 2017, 17:35 Hrs  [IST]

As the chief art consultant, Amitabh Shrivastav and his team of artists at Art Kommune worked assiduously to conjure up images found in Hollywood classics all over Planet Hollywood Hotel, Goa. Every inch of the resort property is sprinkled with art work to invoke the theme. Shrivastav shares the key highlights of the Planet Hollywood hotel to Hospitality Biz, which has become a preferred hospitality destination since it opened couple of years ago.

Nothing is as soothing and destressing as venturing out on a luxurious weekend break to Planet Hollywood, Goa. Spanning from a business trip to a romantic getaway, Planet Hollywood, Goa is all relaxing with elan.

The Art Kommune was proudly and creatively associated in this made-to-measureto- enthral resort. Joining the bandwagon with Sachin Joshi, a multifaceted creative entrepreneur who juggles between fine acting skills and playing a perfect hospitality honcho, the Art Kommune had created some of the uber creative art and state-of-the-art designs in this luxury hospitality address of Goa.

Shrivastav doesn’t want to take the whole credit for his accomplishment to himself. There was a band of dutiful and hardworking boys from the Art Kommune, who put in their hardwork and imagination into the project. “Leadership comes to naught if your team wavers, but I am fortunate, I have one which is strong, determined and uncompromising,” recollects Shrivastav, a celebrated Art Consultant who believes in creating opportunities for the artists’ folk.

Centrally located in upmarket Goa, already known for its historical and cultural landmarks, Planet Hollywood has themes based suites, bar, restaurants, opera houses, and theatres within. Whether you fancy staying in themed suites or sip your martinis at ruby red bar or take selfies along the wall of fame, there is something to suit every taste. ‘Walk like a royal’ is the impeccable feel one takes while walking from the entrance to the exit.

Walking into the hotel will conjure up images found in Hollywood sequences or films. Shrivastav knew that curiosity coupled with lifetime experience is the crux for a hospitality address like Planet Hollywood. To everyone’s wildest imagination keeping in mind the importance of spirituality in Indian coterie, a water Shiva ling has been created at the entrance. The abstractness of the Linga is beyond surreal experience as the water epitomises the Shiva linga. There are abstract sculptures inside the resort premises like Ganesha epitomises the never ending luck. These abstract sculptures don’t erode and fade away in spite of its sea side location.

As one proceeds towards the reception area, the theme décor has been pre-cursor for the rest of the extravaganza - unique, elegant and original. The reception desk reminds one of the ‘Oh so Hollywood aura’. Holding on to the magnanimity of the Hollywood, the reception console has a show reel adding glamour to the entrance. There are larger than life images of Hollywood bigwigs like Catherine Zeta Jones to Jack Nickolson in silhouette effect and psychedelic brush strokes. Even there is gourmet restaurant that flaunts the demi god and goddesses of Hollywood like Spiderman, Bruce Lee, Charlie Chaplin, et al.

No vacation is complete without raising numerous toasts with friends and family. At the Planet Hollywood, the Heart Bar is the place to watch, sip and get tipsy. The philosophy behind the creation is a common heart that beats for emotions and moments, no matter how the faces change. Located at the lobby, the huge collage of Hollywood hotties gives an illusion of red embedded heart. The Heart Bar sports wall collage of Hollywood bigwigs and starlets pictures. The centre of the collage takes a beautiful outline of red heart that symbolises life. It’s the splashiest part of the Planet Hollywood.

Cigar Lounge is another masterpiece that drips chauvinism with a tinge of imperial world. The warmth of leather sofas teamed with the plush Brit interior theme adds panache to the upscale Cigar lounge.

Words always create the memory, here’s a toast to the impeccable Transit Bar. Transit Bar showcases the undying and memorable dialogues of famous Hollywood flicks. A charm of yesteryear as well as current heartthrobs is infused in the Transit Bar air.

Taking a walk further towards the favourite part of the property is the Wall of Fame. Also known as the step up zone or selfie zone, there is a beautiful array of images and hands imprints placed on the wall. It has Jack Nickolson to Marilyn Monroe, with their insignia. Like pixie dust sprinkled on the passage, the stars unroll their galaxy for the guests. There is again, Gauri Khan’s pet project Fame Nightclub which she along with her Superstar hubby Shahrukh Khan inaugurated it too. Step Up and Repeat is another glam spot where taking selfies are a norm. With grandiose background in teething res hues, this is one place to capture the ravishing memories.

For that precipitous drop of fun, mirth and frolic, Cinema Paradiso is the place to be. It was designed on the lines of Moulin Rouge. Adding sheen to the classy interiors are the innovative wall murals in the form of cinema reels, adding charm to the old world aura. The warm colours with the dazzle of gold and loads of drama would leave anyone mesmerised, craving for more sinful fun.

The entire resort is tastefully done in eight themes spanning from Hollywood blockbusters to superheroes and sports bigwigs. To start with the block A, which is infused with the theme of iconic dramatic characters like The Godfather, Sound of Music, Titanic, My Fair Lady, Pride and Prejudice. The wall art in each of these suites are images and famous lines from these movies. The wall art adds oomph factor to the suites which makes it larger than life. In Block B, it is enamoured by the femme fatale of all times Marilyn Monroe who had left her never ending charm like pixie dust.

In Block C, it’s all about the sports films and sports based true events. Starting from Bend It Like Beckham to Goal to Rocky Balboa series, the interiors are equally adrenaline rushing. The interiors highlights sports movie with their famous dialogues and magnanimous cut outs on walls.

Block D flaunts the timeless action films with larger than life hero who beat the grey shades in the movie. Magnum opus like Herculeas, Bruce Lee, Sylvestor Stallone to James Bond, the suites have their magnanimous aura. While E Block is all about tickling your funnybones, Hollywood rib tickling comedy genre movies is the theme. Starting from Jim Carrey to Charlie Chaplin and their historic expressions and dialogues are etched on the headboards. Block F and G are all about capturing the aura of science fiction and super hero movies. Your imagination will take you on tour from ET till Spiderman series. The guests are spoiled for choice, as secrets to be shared; no one stays in the same suite again. The craving for experiencing fine hospitality, so thematic enchants them into a new suite on every visit. The suite décor and terraces are so boho that the guests can soak under the sun.

“As a globe trotter, I have always collected memories during my travels and journeys. Drawing an inspiration from those memories, I decided to create memories for the guests at Planet Hollywood. Moulin Rouge always fascinated me for its unleashed energy and extravaganza. Tapping that genre and feel, Planet Hollywood’s inspiration was unrolled. Afterall, a hotel shouldn’t be just a hotel but a memory where guests should return with renewed energies,” Shrivastav said.
