AHEAD, the Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design, has announced its winners for Asia. Promoted by Sleeper Magazine, these awards celebrate design in all its forms and the guest experience it creates in hospitality projects worldwide. The awards were revealed at a function held at The Capitol Theatre Singapore.
AHEAD Asia is the first of eight regional award ceremonies taking place around the world in 2017 and 2018, celebrating the best new hotels in Asia, the Americas, the Middle East & Africa, and Europe. These regional heats will culminate in a Global Biennale in 2019 which will see the winners of the regional heats compete head-to-head to decide a worldwide winner in each category.
The winners were for Asia were Akademi at Katamama, Seminyak, Bali (Bar, Club & Lounge), Akyra Manor Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand (Guestrooms ), The Edison George Town, Penang (Hotel Renovation & Restoration ), Keemala, Phuket, Thailand (Landscaping & Outdoor Spaces ), Four Seasons Hotel, Seoul, Korea (Lobby & Public Spaces ), Alila Anji, China (Resort Hotel ), Colony at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore (Restaurant ), Four Seasons Hotel, Seoul, Korea (Spa & Wellness ), Ambassador Suite at Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong (Suite), Hoshinoya, Tokyo (Urban Hotel ), Coo, Singapore (Visual Identity of the Year ), Hoshinoya, Tokyo (New Concept of the Year).
Having won in three categories, Hoshinoya, Tokyo has been awarded AHEAD Asia Hotel of The Year 2017.
Kerry Hill a hotel designer with four decades of expertise in hotel design in Asia and beyond has been bestowed with award for ‘Outstanding Contribution’. From early works such as the The Datai in Langkawi, and the Chedi Bandung, through to recent projects such as Aman Tokyo and COMO The Treasury Hotel in Perth, Australia, the jury praised his outstanding contribution to the hospitality design.
