As per a report in The Hindu, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has entered into a pact with existing partners for opening three more Holiday Inn Express Hotels in India in the next two to three years. As per the plan, IHG is to unveil Holiday Inn Express and Suites in the Delhi & NCR area, Holiday Inn Express and Suites Gurgaon Sector 90 with Crowne Prop Build Pvt. Ltd. and Holiday Inn Express Kolkata Airport with DS group that currently owns Crowne Plaza Jaipur Tonk Road with IHG.
“IHG currently operates 29 hotels across four brands in south west Asia - InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, with a further 36 hotels (6,927 rooms) in the development pipeline due to open in the next three to five years,” said Alan Watts, Chief Operating Officer, Asia Middle-East Africa, IHG. Earlier this month, IHG opened its fifth hotel in Chennai and the first Holiday Inn hotel on Chennai OMR IT Expressway. It has 202 rooms and is targeted at corporate, business and leisure travellers.
“Signing these properties with existing owners is indicative of IHG’s strength in building strategic partnerships and the growing recognition of the Holiday Inn Express brand in India,” said Sudeep Jain, Vice President, Development, south west Asia, IHG. “All three properties will draw synergies from IHG hotels located nearby and will reinforce our position in south west Asia,” he said.
“We are looking at developing our portfolio further in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan,” Jain said. IHG is on track to have more hotels in the next 10-15 years, with growth largely driven by the Holiday Inn brand family, officials said.
