India’s first Adventure start up, Deyor Camps, has raised an undisclosed Pre-series A funding from Venture Catalysts and Reapra Ventures to fuel its team expansion, technical integration and to strengthen its marketing activities. In the process, the company has diluted 5% of their equity.

As per the company release, its existing investor, Dheeraj Jain, also participated in this round of funding.

Founded by Chirag Gupta, Aakaar Gandhi, Himashu Aggarwal, and Gautam Yadav, Deyor Camps will also be developing quality content, in addition to enhancing its core expertise of creating thrilling experiences for adventure travellers. Deyor Camps had earlier been chosen for strategic investment by Naspers-backed Travel Boutique Online (TBO), the largest B2B platform for travel agents, which allows it access to a network of more than 20,000 travel agents.

Chirag Gupta, Co-founder & CEO, Deyor Camps, commented, “The latest investment gives us the resources to expand quickly and strategically into new locations, innovate rapidly, and deliver on our vision to organize the fragmented adventure travel sector in India. With such illustrious investors on board, we are confident of achieving greater growth and scale in the days to come. We have diluted 5% of our equity to raise investment in this round.”

Started operations in January 2016, Deyor Camps has over 600 alternative accommodation sites and 1000 adventure activity options spread across 70 locations in India. They also claim to be the leading supplier for adventure travel - be it alternative accommodation like Tents, mud cottages, treehouses, house boats, caravans and cabanas or adventure activity experiences like scuba diving, paragliding, paramotoring, river rafting, etc., in the country.

After consolidating the fragmented market in India, Deyor Camps has plans to expand their business in South East Asia and South and East Africa by 2018.

Venture Catalysts is India’s leading seed investment and innovation platform. It invests $100K – $500K in very early stage startups that has potential to create enduring value for over a long period of time. REAPRA Ventures is one of the latest Japanese early-stage fund debuted their investment in India. REAPRA has invested nearly $30 million in 60 startups across Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Singapore, Thailand, Korea and Malaysia.
