‘We plan to open 100 stores in India’

Australia’s award winning coffee company Coffee By Di Bella, founded in 2002 by hillip Di Bella was created with the mission to assist customers to create the perfect coffee every time. Di Bella is prospering since the time it came to India in 2011. Phillip shares with Kathryn B K about Coffee Di Bella’s future endeavours in India. Excerpts from the interview.

Q How many outlets are you planning to open in India?
We have planned to open around 100 stores in total as of now in India. Our target is to open 20 stores per annum. In India, at the moment we are focusing on opening stores in metropolitan cities majorly in Mumbai and then in Delhi. Later on, we plan to open outlets in tier-II and tier-III cities.

Q What kind of investment are you planning for the India market?
India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world and it is has got immense potential. I see lot of opportunities in the country and India stands among the top three when it comes to opportunities and serving customers. Since Coffee Di Bella’s inception in India till date, the response we received is phenomenal. In future, we are planning to invest between USD 10 – 50 million.

While Di Bella’s competitors like Costa Coffee, Bru World, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Barista, Gloria Jeans have either downsized or exited the market, ours is the only brand which is flourishing apart from Starbucks and Café Coffee Day.”

Q What kind of localisation are you planning in terms of product offering in India?
To suit the Indian customers, we have mainly experimented a lot with milk. Coffee Di Bella is people centric and we do different variations for our customers.

Q How is Coffee By Di Bella different from other coffee brands?
We source the most authentic coffee from the right place. Our coffee is less sweet compared to other coffee brands. We try to associate with the right people and work with them.
