Marriott International introduces its 2nd planned property in Myanmar

Marriott International signed the Courtyard by Marriott Yangon, Myanmar on July 26, 2017. Located in the former capital and commercial center of the country, the new built hotel owned by Hotel Sule Square Co. Ltd. is part of a mixed-use development and is scheduled to open in 2019. 

Speaking on the eve, Kyaw Naing Oo, Chairman, Hotel Sule Square Co. Ltd. and Naing Group Capital Co. Ltd., stated, “We are excited to be working alongside Marriott International, a global hotel operator with such vast experience in the hospitality sector.”

Courtyard by Marriott Yangon’s dynamic offerings and welcoming service will be catering both- leisure and business guests in Myanmar. The city hotel will feature 200 inviting guestrooms and suites, along with one executive lounge and four meeting rooms integrating to 400 sq. mt. to host special functions. Local cuisines and international tastes can be savored at the three-meal restaurant. An express meal can be picked up at Momo to Go, and drinks can be enjoyed at the bar and lounge. The meeting spaces and recreational facilities including a rooftop pool, fitness center and treatment rooms will re-energise the travellers.

Located in the gateway city of Yangon, and only 45 minutes away from Yangon International Airport, the Courtyard by Marriott Yangon is in close proximity to key tourist attractions, like the Sule Pagoda, City Hall, Bogyoke Aung San Market, China Town and Shwedagon Paragon Pagoda are easily commutable. Considering mixed-use development, retail, tourist markets, cafés and unique architectural buildings are within the vicinity of the hotel.

During the occasion, Karl Hudson, Area VP, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia & Myanmar, Marriott International, said, "Myanmar holds immense potential as a new tourism destination in South East Asia given its rich history and natural beauty. Demand is expected to grow as the government and economy are stabilising; with business travel picking up due to increased investment in various business sectors, and the leisure segment looking promising as Myanmar relaxes its visa policies and continues to market its unique destinations."
