Japanese Chef “Nobu” awarded “Friend of Peru”

Eduardo Ferreyros, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, granted the recognition “Friend of Peru” to the Japanese chef Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa, for his 30 years of extensive work promoting the versatility of Peruvian products in his more than 40 restaurants located in the most important metropolis around the world. Exciting flavors can be tasted through the fusion between traditional Japanese dishes and Peruvian ingredients.

“Friend of Peru” was created by Marca Peru- the country brand division of PROMPERÚ and is given only to foreign personalities who have a close relationship with our country, an affective connection that shows commitment, trust, respect and admiration for Peru.

After receiving the award, “Nobu” reaffirmed his commitment to keep promoting the benefits of Peruvian products: lemon and peppers have heavily influenced his cuisine but quinoa, sweet potato, dried potato, paiche (Arapaima Gigas), charqui (dried meat) and chinguirito (dried fish) are present as well. Through these products, “Nobu” showcases the richness of the different regions of Peru, conquering the most exigent palates of each continent.
