Glion Institute to launch revamped Bachelor and Master’s programmes in Hospitality Management

Glion Institute of Higher Education will be launching their revamped curriculum in hospitality management both in the undergraduate and postgraduate levels from next year. The curriculum has been revamped taking into account the changes that are happening in the hospitality world and the demands of the industry globally, say Fabienne Rollandin, Executive Director - External Relations of Glion Institute of Higher Education.

Talking about the revamped Bachelor of Business Administration in Hospitality Business, Rollandin said that emphasis is on imparting the basic practical knowledge across kitchen, front office, and other operational verticals in the first six months or the first semester of the five semester programme as per the revised curriculum. “It’s the practical arts semester of study where students will be developing all the soft skills while doing things. In traditional universities and institutes, students learn a lot of theory in the first semester without knowing how to deal with situations,” she said.

Glion Institute has revamped their gastronomic restaurant and appointed four chefs who are ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France’ (Best Craftsmen of France) winners as faculties. In front office, they have latest version of Opera which is being used by top hotels of the world, she said.
They also have new and updated specialisation programmes as part of the last semester, which is optional. The new specialisations are in Luxury Brand Management in Hospitality; Hotel Development and Finance; and International Event Management. “We have combined development and finance to make it more detailed,” she said.

In the Master’s also they have revamped their existing programme. Now on, Glion will offer two different Masters’ programmes in Hospitality – Master of Science of Hospitality Management, and Master of Business Administration in Hospitality Management. While the former is dedicated for young people who want to re-orient their career, the later is a dual degree programme offered in partnership with Grenoble School of Management, she informed.

Here in Delhi organising workshops for prospective students, Fabienne said that India is an important market for Glion and keen to have partnerships with institutes and industry in India.  “Indian students are the best, they are so enthusiastic and know what they want to do and go.  Lot of them wants to become entrepreneurs,” she said. “Our campuses are highly international and students get to live and learn in a completely international environment. “ She said that the students also can choose to do a semester in any of the campus of Glion in Switzerland, London, China, etc.
