The Paryatan Parv’s IndiaTourism Mumbai Workshop encourages Responsible and Rural Tourism

The Paryatan Parv programme's IndiaTourism Mumbai – Workshop on Responsible & Rural Tourism, with the motive to inform the participants about various aspects of responsible tourism was conducted today at the Kohinoor Continental hotel in Mumbai.
The key speakers were – Ansoo Gupta, Founder, One Shoe Trust for Responsible and Mindful Travels; Dr. Sumanta Rudra, Sustainability Head, Govardhan Eco Village Rural Tourism Project; Dr. Rajashree Ajith, Director, Kerala Institute of Tourism & Travel Studies, Govt. of Kerala.
While addressing the participants, Ansoo Gupta said that a traveller needs to focus and try to explore and adapt to the local culture, heritage, food, etc. of the place which they visit. She said, “When we travel, we have to travel with a sense of adventure, with a sense of exploration so that the local culture inspires us.”
Dr. Rajashree Ajith gave a brief presentation on how responsible and rural tourism is gaining momentum in various areas in Kerala.
Dr. Sumanta Rudra spoke on how Govardhan Eco Village, a village located at Wada, Maharashtra won the Award for Innovation in Non-Governmental Organisations at the 13th UNWTO Awards. He emphasised on the sustainability and recycling aspects followed in most of the activities that are conducted within the village, which have attracted visitors from across various countries.
The workshop concluded with an interaction session between the speakers and the participants who were mainly hoteliers and from the travel & tourism industry.
