As per a report in The Times Of India, OYO, the hotel room aggregator and technology provider, is planning to manage and operate 10 hotels in Kolkata in the next six months under Townhouse brand. OYO created the brand Townhouse for managing and operating hotels that it has been doing since early 2017. Abhinav Sinha, COO of OYO said that it has major plans for Kolkata and West Bengal as a whole. It is currently managing and operating 25 properties across India and another 20 are in pipeline. OYO has launched first Townhouse Hotel in Sudder Street. “By mid-2018, we shall have many more managed properties here. The areas that we are looking for are VIP Road, Salt Lake, Gariahat, Ballygunge, Kankurganchi among others. We may rope in few more in Sudder Street as well,” he added. Sinha pointed out that in OYO Townhouse; it actually manages the hotel where the owner of the property gets a share of the revenue. “In Townhouse, there is a common colour code and decor which the hotel owner has to maintain. The owner has to invest to refurbish the hotel as per the specification,” he added.

The average room tariff of the OYO Townhouse would be INR 3000-4000 depending on the locations. “The tariff would be more in say Gariahat. It would be less in Salt Lake or VIP Road,” he added. Currently, there are 2,500 OYO rooms in Kolkata and in West Bengal, the figure is 3,500. “We have set a target to grow 10 times in the next two years,” he added. According to Sinha, besides Kolkata, OYO Rooms are available in Siliguri, Darjeeling, Digha and Mandarmani as well. The OYO COO also pointed out that it has started a new vertical called OYO Home where it is signing empty houses in tourist locations. “It is like logged homes. We have already started OYO Homes in Goa and Shimla and tied up homes in Udaipur, Nainital and Puducherry.
