A Sicilian connection tingles taste buds in the Delhi NCR region

Can one be both an artist and an entrepreneur? An emphatic yes would be the answer from Chef Om Nayak, an award winning Chef, restaurateur, culinary explorer and entrepreneur. He along with his wife Aditi Bicholia are the visionaries behind The Pasta Bowl Company which is winning kudos from gourmet’s across the Delhi NCR region.

Armed with a bachelor’s degree in hotel management from WelcomGroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration in Manipal, Chef Om Nayak went on to work with Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Dubai, Goldfinch Hotels in Bangalore, ITC Windsor in Bangalore, and Leela Kempenski in Bangalore. He successfully conceptualised the theme, décor and cuisines for the F&B Outlets in Sheraton Deira, Dubai.

His entrepreneurial journey started with Chef Om’s Hospitality in 2009, where he consults for various successful Hospitality Businesses and has been part of creating ventures all across India, Middle-East, UK and Hongkong. A dynamic and seasoned professional, with over 16 years in the hospitality industry in India and overseas hotels, clubs and restaurants, Chef Om Nayak has had a privilege of serving heads of states and celebrities like Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie and many more renowned personalities. During these 16 years he has also gained extensive experience of working in the continental & Indian kitchens, fine dining Italian and French kitchens as well.

The Pasta Bowl Company, started in 2013, is a reflection of his experience and love for Italian cuisine and the iconic movie ‘Godfather’. He specially chose to focus and experiment with Sicilian Cuisine as he feels it to be more suited and likable to the Indian palate.

However the restaurant also serves cuisine from the other regions of Italy. The aim of the Pasta Bowl Company is Soddisfazione del cliente ebuon cibo (Guest Satisfaction and Good Food). The commitment to guest satisfaction and no compromise on the authenticity and quality of food has made The Pasta Bowl Company a favourite for its diners. The Risotto ai funghi con olio di tartufo (3 mushroom risotto with truffle oil drizzle) and the sweet cannelloni interspersed with shots of coffee that I sampled were simply superb.

Customer satisfaction combined with authenticity and quality, and all the ingredients that are handpicked and airlifted from Italy to serve the authentic flavours will remain the bedrock of The Pasta Bowl Company as it expands to more locations. The team cooks up 2-3 completely new menus every year to maintain the uniqueness and provides the diners with a different experience every time they visit the place.

The company is shortly set to open two outlets in Mumbai and one in Bangalore. Expansion plans of the company in more varied modules at prime locations across the country under three categories are:

  • Grand - casual all-day dining, Italian food served with Wine and Beer
  • Osteria – smaller all-day dining eateries with non-alcoholic beverages; for a younger audience
  • Rapido – quick service outlets
  • Moving forward aggressively on these three formats, The Pasta Bowl Company plans to reach more than 100 locations across Asia in the next three years.
