The Great Indian Food Street opens doors at World Food India 2017

At the World Food India, one of the most anticipated mega events in the food processing industry, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, today unveiled ‘The Great Indian Food Street’, a unique platform to celebrate the diverse culinary heritage of India.

The Great Indian Food Street has been curated by India’s most celebrated Chef Sanjeev Kapoor who has put his expertise into bringing out immense culinary practices, flavours, fragrances from various cuisines of the world, rejoicing India's rich cultural heritage and diverse exclusivity of its produce to create contemporary renditions and fusion food.

The Great Indian Food Street is an experiential, one of its kind initiative that focuses on the globalisation of Indian food and transformation of Indian heritage foods and super foods. The journey from lost recipes to new age molecular gastronomy, as well as the unique influences that form a part of our country’s diverse food culture.
The Great Indian Food Street displays demonstration of culinary techniques and traditions from the 28 states of the country. The event would witness cookery demos by luminaries in the culinary industry and the biggest names on Indian television, with the likes of various Michelin Chefs including Ranveer Brar, Saransh Goila, Amrita Raichand, Vineet Bhatia, Satish Arora, Imtiaz Qureshi, Kavneet Sahni and many others. The event has set a benchmark as the forum for conversations, cuisines and the exchange of ideas and philosophies by these prominent personalities.

The Great Indian Food Street at World Food India is also aimed at building a sustainable agri-business where the attendees will get to know about the process of organic farming and the plethora of opportunities it holds in trade.  The sessions involved panel discussions among experts to discuss the future of super-foods, organic farming and how the industry is set to explode in an assorted collection of “Food for Wellness” to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Speaking about the inauguration of The Great Indian Food Street, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said, “There is no country in the world which can possibly match the culinary potential of India, our legacy and diversity brings together some of the most wonderful gastronomic delights for food enthusiasts all over the world. The Food Street is one such celebration of Food traditions of India which are more than capable of imbibing beautifully with any world cousins. I would like to congratulate and compliment Chef Sanjeev Kapoor for envisioning this unique concept and I am excited to see the outcome of this initiative in the coming days.”

The next two days of this extravagant event will experience programming through interactive discussions and demonstrations by the chefs, the traditional flavours as well as modern fusion food to give the attendees a wholesome experience about the diverse uniqueness that Indian food offers nationally as well as in the global markets. The event also gives an opportunity for gastronomes to engage in contemporary issues with the most progressive-minded panelists, learn from the greatest chefs in the region, explore fascinating topics related to fusion food made by Indian spices and treat their taste buds with the most splendid flavours through live kitchens that each regional pavilion would offer.
