Down to Townhouse

OYO’s Townhouse, a category of neighbourhood hotels, serves the trend stretching across the millennials. Here’s a peek into its vivid creation.

Design Element
Design is one of the most important aspects which also serves as differentiator and identifier of OYO Townhouse. The idea was to cater to a growing audience that is well travelled and exposed to international aesthetics and standards while at the same time introducing it to millennial guests through an innovative minimalistic elegance. In an interactive style of guest-communication, we have tried to depict this theme through decals, hand-art, wall-illustrations. Also, unlike the one-size-fits-all approach of traditional hotel chains, every Townhouse is designed to complement its neighbourhood.

Design Aura
Every space within a Townhouse has been designed to provide meaningful comfort and a warm experience to guests. The bedrooms have been kept neat with minimal design - instead of utilising heavy wood and rich colours, the design has been kept clean, crisp and progressive. The lounge area is designed as a multi-purpose space where guests can eat, work or just simply hang out. Illustrations and the colour scheme has been used to bring a very cohesive look to the entire place. The entire hotel is visualised as a light, clean, minimal modern quirky space that caters to the need of millennial travellers.

Exterior Design
The colour scheme for the exterior design of Townhouse is kept neutral which is impactful from outside and calming from the indoor perspective. The classic combination of gray, white and red is kept constant across all the properties to ensure uniformity and the colours have become a brand identifier. People identify with forms and colours that evoke a sense of nostalgia in them. That is the biggest driver behind choosing the iconic colour scheme for Townhouse properties.

We did extensive research of existing designs followed by hotel chains both in India and Europe. OYO Townhouse breaks away from decades-old hotel industry templates. The idea was to elevate the average hotel space to a place where guests feel comfortable. Each element was looked at carefully from the wall finishes, timber flooring to the furniture and lighting so that they come together seamlessly. We used timber as our main material for the flooring and furniture for the durability it offers. The material palette has been kept on the lighter side for creating breathing room while using contrast colours for creating a visual statement.

The comfortable wishbone chairs in the bedrooms and the common-area furniture design is a mix of wood and metal to give a modern and contemporary look to the interiors. Every single element of these properties has been re-engineered to deliver higher quality and better value.

At Townhouse, the core focus has been to capitalise the natural light. We also make use of bulbs and electrical fittings basis luminosity principles. 360-degree reading lights have been fitted in the rooms to provide added convenience to guests.
