‘Rebranding to Radisson has helped us add greater value to our guest experience’

Bestech Group had completed an elaborate renovation and upgradation lasted over one-and-half years to elevate their Park Plaza Hotel in Noida into an upscale Radisson Hotel early this year. The upgradation of the hotel touched mainly the F&B and the MICE facilities in order to tap into a higher segment of corporate business. In an interview Ramendra Pratap Singh, General Manager, Radisson Noida tells P Krishna Kumar the life after the upgradation to Radisson Noida.

QHow has your recent rebranding of the hotel from Park Plaza to Radisson made a difference to the property in terms of its brand visibility, appeal, acceptance and relevance to the market?
We are fortunate that our guests have been with us on this journey of Park Plaza to Radisson and I believe the brand change had been well-received by our guests. Radisson is a well- known brand globally and has an upscale aspirational value associated with it. In addition to the brand re-positioning, there are certain changes in terms of Radisson as a concept, with the Grab & Run now guests can have breakfast at 5 am in the morning for instance. 100% Guest Satisfaction is part of brand commitment to our guests, as is free Wi-Fi. Hallmark service concepts like ETC (Extra Thoughtful Care) where each of our team member goes extra mile to achieve the guest satisfaction add great value to guest experience

Q Which are the new segments of business that you tried to target and lure with the rebranding and how successful you have been in the exercise?
The one important expansion during the brand re-positioning was re-imagined event spaces. With appropriate space management we now have a 4300 sq. ft. clear space compared to the 3700 sq. ft. earlier and now can easily accommodate event with capacity of around 350 guests. With the larger space to host events, we are reaching out to the companies who cater to MICE Business.

Q How Noida as a micro-market of Delhi NCR is evolving to branded hospitality of the likes of Radisson? What are the demand trends that see in the market?
Noida with its close proximity to Delhi has emerged as a potential market for hospitality. With the ease of connectivity through DND or Yamuna Express way more investors and big players are investing in Noida hence there has been a substantial growth in demand in Noida. India Expo Mart in Greater Noida makes it an ideal destination for hosting large events at ease. Noida as a market not only drive demand for hotels in Noida but also for hotels in East Delhi and Ghaziabad which is a reflection of the potential of Noida.

Q There is huge opportunity for quality F&B and banquets in markets like Noida. How do you tap that demand?
Food service is a key segment in Hospitality industry. Eating out has evolved from an occasion driven activity to an occasion itself for the youth. Apart from our regular offerings, we plan different food festivals and concepts continuously to add variety and give a new experience to our guests with creative visual and food concepts.

We have huge F&B capability to serve the guests with Global Cuisine at All-Day Dining at The Creative Kitchen, Oriental Cuisine at Nihao & Ancient Indian Cuisine at iconic ‘The Great Kabab Factory.’

Q In a location like Noida, what are the challenges before you in terms of making each component of the hotel generate revenue to make up a sustainable business?
I do think, Hospitality, especially F&B in Noida is evolving in big way. With new F&B outlets coming to Noida, I see a huge opportunity rather than challenge since Noida residents will not have to travel to various part of NCR for varied experiences.

While we are growing year-on-year basis, I think optimal usage of meeting spaces due to lack of demand in Noida is a challenge.

Q What are the different challenges in terms of infrastructure, civic conditions, etc. that you face in a location like Noida?
We continuously get guidance and support from local administration. Through deeper penetration of metro, new underpasses and flyovers, a huge capacity building is happening in Noida. For example, the new elevated road has substantially reduced travelling time to expressway and other part of Noida from our hotel which has helped us to drive more revenues.
