Louvre Hotels Group to converge all brands under single platform in the next three months

Golden Tulip Hotels to look for leasing of hotels for faster growth and expansion

Louvre Hotels Group  which acquired Indian mid-market hotel company, Sarovar Hotels, early last year, and also manages own brands like Golden Tulip, Royal Tulip and Tulip Inn through a Joint Venture partner, Golden Tulip Hotels & Resorts, will be consolidating all their brands under a “single operating platform” soon to create a bigger and stronger presence. According to Vimal Singh, Managing Director – South Asia, Golden Tulip Hotels, the “logistics of convergence” is being worked out and is expected to be completed in the next three months’ time.  

In an interaction with Hospitality Biz, Singh said that the vision behind acquisition of Sarovar Hotels in India was to grow the platform bigger and stronger by consolidating all brands under a single operating platform. He said that such consolidation of resources of different brands under a single entity will benefit both owners as well as end customers in the long run. ‘Convergence doesn’t mean Sarovar brands will be converted to Golden Tulip or otherwise. All existing brands will continue to exist and grow the way they are. The only thing is that all will be brought under a single management entity and platform,’ Singh clarified.

When asked about further acquisition opportunities in India market, Singh said that they would continue to explore further acquisition opportunities of “asset light” companies in India market.  

Talking about the expansion strategy for India, Singh said that they are getting into ‘Leasing of Hotels’ to expand both existing portfolio as well as bring new brands into the market. “Between Louvre Hotels and our Chinese owning company we have 40 brands to offer ranging from hardcore budget to Luxury and Serviced Apartments. That gives us the leverage to have multiple hotels in same location,” he informed.  He added that the company is keen to bring Premiere Classe (budget) and Campanile (3-Star) into India.  

As far as the company’s pipeline in India is concerned, Singh said that they currently have 27 hotels in India under three brands Golden Tulip, Royal Tulip and Tulip Inn, and will be adding another 12 hotels over the next 12 to 24 months. These hotels are slated to open in cities like Agra, Lucknow, Rajkot, Dwarka, Somnath, Kota, Jodhpur, Udaipur, etc. “Golden Tulip is a strong mid-market brand, and 70 to 80% of the pipeline are Golden Tulip,” he said.
