Diageo Reserve World Class 2018 announces Top 12 Bartenders from across India to compete at National Finals in Delhi

Diageo Reserve in its India edition of the industry’s acclaimed bartending competition - Diageo Reserve World Class 2018,  has just announced the top 12 finalists who will compete at the National Finals in New Delhi to be held on June 25 & 26, 2018. The winner of World Class 2018 in India will represent the country at the World Class Global Finals in Berlin this October.
The 12 Finalists for the World Class 2018 - India are Akhilesh, Perch, New Delhi; Gaurav Dhyani, Whisky Bar, Gurugram; Lopsang Galchen Lama, Speakeasy Bar, Gurugram; Param Vaar, Perch, New Delhi; Subham Gupta, PCO, New Delhi; Devi Singh Bhati, Peep Kitchen, Goa; Feruzan Bilimoria, London Taxi, Mumbai; Jitender Singh Rana, Arth, Mumbai; Rohan Rege, Paasha at JW Marriott, Pune; Rahul Sandilya Tiwari, The Oberoi, Kolkata; Rohan Matmary, Byg Brewski, Bangalore; Vedant Mehra, Bootlegger, Bangalore

The 12 contenders have been hand-picked by a team of accomplished judges comprising of Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassadors – Jamie Walker, Andrew Young, Brandon Toborg and Zachary Abbott. The contenders were effectively scored on their knowledge, bartending technique, creativity and the ability to deal with pressured situations.

Commenting on this competition, Shweta Jain – Vice President Luxury Commercial & Key Accounts, Diageo India, said, “Diageo Reserve World Class is the industry’s biggest and most prestigious bartending competition. With Resourceful Bartending as our core theme for World Class 2018, we want our participants to understand the importance of the three things most people don’t expect in cocktail culture – the environment, the service and most importantly the quality of the drinks. We are very excited to represent the best bartender in Berlin for the World Class Global finals 2018.”

A training and advocacy program as well as a competition, Diageo Reserve World Class has educated and inspired over 300,000 bartenders in 60 countries all over the world since its inception in 2009. Pioneering the quaint culture of fine drinking around the world, the contest presents an exclusive global platform, intending to encourage and further magnify the talent of local bartenders. This year the modules selected for the competition are Signature Concepts and the Resourceful Bartender. Signature Concepts is designed to help bartenders create a unique experience for their venue using mapping techniques and incorporating all the five senses and make a drink that represents their unique creativity. The Resourceful Bartender module focuses on sustainability in bartending by reducing waste and energy consumption and applying a zero waste attitude to bartending and participants were encouraged to make minor changes that will help reduce carbon-footprint.
