Inaugurating the first India International Hospitality Expo 2018, an exposition of hospitality equipment in India Expo Mart Greater Noida, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Union Minister with independent charge of Food Processing Industries said that food and Hospitality industries combined together has the potential to take India to the world and provide huge growth and development to the country. She said that food and hospitality are two sun rise sectors of the economy and their potential are not yet fully tapped.
India is a US$600 billion retail economy and out of which 70% is food retail. Similarly, hospitality sector is making huge strides and has the capability to play its pivotal role in transforming the country, she said.
The four-day event is organised by IEML together with hotel industry associations like HOTREMAI, ICF, IFCA, ARCHII, etc.
With over 200 exhibitors and over 8,000 visitors, IHE is the first chapter of country’s largest and most comprehensive sourcing hub for the Hospitality, Retail, Baking, Housekeeping and F&B Industry.
In his introductory speech, Rakesh Kumar, Chairman of IEML said that the purpose of setting up IHE as a vertical platform for hotel and hospitality industry was to develop it as one of the biggest shows in Asia in coming years. He said that most of the existing B2B platforms for the hospitality industry have prominence to Food and therefore there has been a demand from the industry stakeholders to set up a vertical show dedicated for the hospitality industry.
There will be Culinary Theatre by eminent chefs, Food and Fashion shows, mock hotel rooms, etc. as part of the four-day exhibition.
