AccorHotels launches first Grand Mercure branded property in Myanmar

AccorHotels, a globally leading French hospitality company has just launched the first Grand Mercure branded hotel in Myanmar. 

Overlooking the famed Schwedagon Pagoda, Grand Mercure Yangon Golden Empire boasts of 175 guestrooms and suites designed by local artist Pyar Dade. The rooms range from 30 sq m for superior rooms to 340 sq m two-bedroom suite. The F&B offerings of the hotel are spread across its restaurant, deli, and pool bar. Flavours Restaurant offers diverse international and Asian cuisine, as well as halal food. Specialty cakes and fresh pastries are available at Mahura Deli, which also serves a selection of gourmet coffees, teas and wines. Finger foods and cocktails are available at Ken pool bar besides the outdoor swimming pool.

For meetings, private parties and weddings, the hotel features two state-of-the-art ballrooms that can host up to 400 guests with a pre-event function area and seven meeting rooms that feature natural daylight, overlooking the Yangon skyline. 

Speaking about the launch, Patrick Basset, COO of AccorHotels, Upper Southeast and Northeast Asia and Maldives, said, “This is our first Grand Mercure in Myanmar and the opening of Grand Mercure Yangon Golden Empire encapsulates the cultural touchstone of the destination and heritage in bringing local stories to life.
