According to Sakaal Times, five Pune hotels have been denied permission to hold ‘ticket-entry’ New Year’s Eve bashes. Pune’s police force has banned these parties in the Baner area hotels due to security reasons. Hotel Rajwada, Hotel Sadanand, Hotel Pan Card, Hotel E-Square and Hotel Green Park were the five properties affected by this decision. Other city-based hotels expect to see the same fate. The city will see added police patrolling on December 31, 2008; strict action will be taken against offenders of any sort.

Those allowed to hold parties have to follow 11 strict guidelines set down by the police. This includes proper checking of persons and vehicle entering the premises, no consumption of alcohol outside hotel/restaurant premises, employee identification provided to police, hotels/restaurants must not admit guests over their holding capacity and no entry fees to be charged.
