According to the Financial Chronicle, Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Riverbank Developers will collaborate to develop a luxury hotel and serviced apartments property, Crown Plaza Hotels & Resorts, at Batanagar in West Bengal. The project will witness a capital outlay of Rs 175 Crore.

The property will offer 200 rooms and 50 serviced apartments will be located within a building where a few floors will be reserved for the hotel. The first development phase is expected to be complete by 2011. The entire property will be launched three years after civil construction work begins.

Crown Plaza Hotels & Resorts will be the country’s first marina hotel facing the River Hooghly and will provide boats and cruises for hire. A deck will be set up at the water’s edge and other water activities will be introduced shortly.
