ITC Royal Bengal & ITC Sonar promotes sustainable tourism in Bengal

ITC Sonar, Kolkata, a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum Certified Hotel, also, it is the first hotel in the world to obtain Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) issued under the aegis of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Convention in 2007. Along with ITC Sonar, ITC Royal Bengal - the 456 keys luxury hotel is now a LEED Platinum Certified Building. These CERs, also known as Carbon Credits are issued under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol. The CERs have been issued after an exhaustive evaluation process. Carbon Dioxide emission reduction has been achieved through various energy conservation initiatives. ITC  Hotels  chain has the maximum Platinum Certified Properties (USGBC).

A  456  room  keys  Luxury  Hotel,  ITC  Royal Bengal is one of the tallest building  in  Kolkata at 130 meters in height, setting higher standards for energy efficiency in building systems design.

Adjacent  to  ITC  Royal  Bengal  is  ITC Sonar. ITC Sonar is also a LEED Platinum  certified  hotel  and  is  the first hotel in the world to obtain Certified  Emission  Reductions (CERs) issued under the aegis of the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Convention in 2007.


The energy saving features has made ITC Royal Bengal resource-efficient and environment friendly, in line with world-class standards and procedures.
