Crepe-fe is the culmination of the dreams of a young man named Shourrya Sachdeva, a chef by heart, who started Crepe-fe to counter some existing challenges in the market, such as, the delivery of unbelievably tough western delights served to consumers’ doorsteps, and the lack of hygiene and transparency behind food operation in India. Asmita Mukherjee spoke with Sachdeva to know how Crepe-fe is coping up in the new normal.
While commenting on the inspirations behind Crepe-fe, Sachdeva mentioned, “We started on 24th July 2017. Crepe-fe is India’s first brand to start a dessert delivery chain with the ideology of doing something unique. We started a dessert parlour with a delivery concept. We took up the challenge of mastering high-end western dessert comfort foods delivered straight to the customer's comfort zone, i.e. the customer’s home. On top of it, we intend to stay & maintain the reputation of being India’s most transparent food brand, where patrons are allowed to see how their food is getting made.”
Sharing his experience of doing business during the lockdown, Sachdeva stated, “During the lockdown, our employees were beaten and abused at the checkpoints and sent back home while delivering foods to customers, even though they had permission and passes for the same. So all this confusion cost us the closure of 2 outlets and we had to let go of our 20 employees.”
Commenting on his growth plans Sachdeva shared that he is now focusing on building a franchise model which will disrupt the existing practices. “We started with 1 outlet, went to 3 outlets in 3 years and now we are back to exactly where we started. So the growth plans right now are to survive and fight through this phase, as we believe in our products, and our focus on customer feedback convinces us every time why we should exist.”
