Darshan Lama, Chief Commercial Officer, Question What’s Real
Please describe your offerings
The aim of Question What’s Real (QWR) is to establish a complete ecosystem of Extended Reality (XR) technology and become a leader in the XR industry. We will continue to bring the best of XR smart glasses, precision optics and chips, XR open-source platform, and XR cloud to the Indian consumers, enterprises and developers.
Does QWR have any offerings specially designed for the hospitality sector? Kindly describe a traveller’s journey through the offerings of QWR
We, at QWR, are focused on providing our customers with the most exciting experience when it comes to Immersive Realities. Its application and usage to the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors are only limited by imagination.
A traveller’s journey lifecycle starts with dreaming and being inspired to travel followed by meticulously planning and booking the travel, pre-trip preparation, taking the trip and in-destination experiences, and finally sharing their memories and reviews post-trip inspiring others to travel and then starting all over again by dreaming for their next travel.
360 virtual tours are truly one of the most effective ways of ‘try-before-you-buy’ for travel experiences, let that be for destination exploration and marketing. Hotels, resorts and vacation rental hosts can give a tour of their properties to the travellers, building trust and creating excitement in the process.
This is great for the travellers who are in their dream, plan and book phase to make an informed choice and plan their travels better with zero surprises. The virtual tours can be experienced using smartphones.
As we further launch our other products and services, we’ll be offering even AR and MR based solutions that’ll enable more applications in other phases of the traveller's journey.
What makes QWR unique as compared to its competitors?
We don’t have any Indian competitors with similar products. Also for the same product category, not only are we more affordable but better and faster as well.
How did covid-19 impact your business? What are the challenges and opportunities that you faced during the lockdown?
Like everyone else, we were equally impacted due to the extended lockdowns and uncertainty of the economy and markets which derailed our plans for an early launch. Nonetheless, we were resilient, with sound financials and a young passionate team who thrived against the headwinds and came out unscathed. There were no pay cuts and layoffs. Instead, we have onboarded quite a few new members.
As for the overall XR industry, the lockdowns have acted as a tailwind to generate more interest, traction and adoption of XR, which we think will gain further momentum in 2021.
Kindly brief us about your expansion and growth plans
Based on the expected growth in demand for XR products and services in India, we’ll continue to iterate on the existing product lines and also introduce new products and services. We want to power the younger generation by giving them access to the latest and greatest XR technology to make them future proof, and further boost India’s presence in the global map for XR technologies.
