HBI Staff | Hyderabad

Living Food Co added another feather to it’s cap with a wholesome and fruitful partnership with the world’s most coveted and greatest tea - Makaibari and Luxmi Tea. Living Food Co will be retailing the Darjeeling First Flush, a highly coveted tea from Makaibari with only 1000 boxes in the sub-continent.

The umbrella of Luxmi tea encompasses a universe of specially curated teas from the best estates in the world.  From the finest, delicate Darjeeling tea from Makaibari, golden hued robust blends from Assam to the rare strong blends from Rwanda - they bring to you the most sough-after teas in the world.

The undisputed crown jewel of the Luxmi Group is the Makaibari estate, 1100 acres of sprawling greens known to produce a poignant Darjeeling tea, characterized by its bright, amber-colored brew and muscatel flavors - delicate and flowery, hinting of apricots and peaches. A trailblazer in its own right, Makaibari is home to the world’s first tea factory as early as 1859 as well as the first tea estate in the world to garner organic as well as fair-trade certification in the 1990s.

The Darjeeling First Flush, an exclusive, one-of-a-kind tea with delicate flavours with only 1000 boxes in India, will be exclusively sold on Living Food Co. The First Flush is the picking of the brand new two leaves and a bud in the earliest spring growth of the plant. More delicate and tender, the resulting flavour is light, floral, fresh, brisk, and zesty and tea connoisseurs have coined this the ‘Champagne of Teas’. They also deliver other blends from the award winning Makaibari Estate such as Bai Mu Dan, Darjeeling Peony White Tea, Silver Green Darjeeling Tea to name a few.

Living Food Company and Luxmi Tea join forces to cater unmatched quality to a discerning Indian audience. By building awareness among the Indian consumer about the terroir, the environment and the exquisite quality of every estate, they want to shine the spotlight on and promote the growers, by giving them their due recognition.

This partnership is supported by a business model where every partner in the supply chain is economically sustainable and future-proofed. Teas are bought directly, enabling Living food Co to cut out the middle-men and give more to the deserving small farmers who organically grow the different varieties of tea. A real Farm to Cup experience, the association is steeped in the local food movement and specially curated for the Indian consumer.

Speaking on the partnership, Rudra Chatterjee, Managing Director at Luxmi Tea says,“Luxmi produces fine teas in exceptional terroir : Darjeeling, Upper Assam and Rwanda. Living Foods will deliver these handpicked teas directly from our estates - for the ultimate farm to cup experience”.

And Atul Rastogi, Head – Operations, Luxmi Tea says, “We share the same ethos of sustainability and supporting the farmer. The world’s most iconic biodynamic Darjeeling teas will be brought to your home by Living Foods”.

The highly prized Darjeeling First Flush Tea from Makaibari, will be available exclusively on the Living Food Company platform,
