Hoteliers to help with shopping festival in Gurgaon

In a bid to feature Gurgaon on the international tourism map, Haryana Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Tourism) Keshni Anand Arora has suggested organising a grand shopping festival in Gurgaon on the lines of the Dubai Shopping Festival. At a meeting with hoteliers and mall owners of Gurgaon yesterday, Arora said that a grand shopping festival can be organised in Gurgaon in December 2009, with their help.

News agency UNI quoted Arora saying, “How and where it could be organised, should be suggested by hoteliers and mall owners. For this, they can appoint good event managers. Unique products from best companies could be put up for sale in the grand shopping festival. The companies may be asked to give discounts on their products.” She further added that the famous Surajkund Crafts Mela had attained international recognition after several years and that she wanted the grand shopping festival to also capture similar international attention right from its very beginning
