By HBI Staff | Mumbai

Goa Marriott Resort near Miramar Beach in collaboration with Don Bosco High School will conduct and participate in a beach cleaning drive on September 19, 2009. The beach cleaning drive will be a part of the annual International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) event, which is the world’s largest one-day volunteer effort to clean the marine environment.

Every year on the third Saturday in September, hundreds of thousands of people in more than 75 countries remove millions of pounds of trash from waterways and beaches all over the world during Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup. ‘Ocean Conservancy’ is a non-profit organisation that promotes health and diverse ocean ecosystems through research, education and science. To support this international movement, approximately 70 Goa Marriott Resort associates will be involved in the process of ridding the Miramar beach segment of trash and debris. The waste scrap will be segregated and handed over to the Municipal Corporation Ltd for recycling purposes.
