MM Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (MMIHM& CT), Mullana, Ambala recently hosted a two-day national conference on ‘Hospitality Industry in India – Development & Challenges’ at Maharishi Markandeshwar University (MM University) campus. Supported by Indian Hospitality Congress (IHC), the conference was attended by about 100 delegates, including academia, industry professionals and students.
The two-day conference discussed issues like Human Resource Practices in the Hospitality Industry; Impact of Terrorism on Tourism & Hospitality Industry; Hospitality & Tourism – Issues & Challenges; Developing Trends & Concerns with Hospitality & Tourism. About 25 research papers were presented at the conference.
Inaugurating the conference, Anil Malhotra, General Manager, The Taj, Chandigarh harped upon the need to change the hospitality curriculum in tune with the changing trends in the hospitality industry. “The industry has changed 360 degree through the years, but curriculum has not changed at all. The institutes are teaching the same syllabus since last 30 years,” he said. |
