MoT releases Rs 42.14 crore for 19 projects in Himachal Pradesh

According to a PIB release, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha recently, Kumari Selja, Union Minister of Tourism stated that the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has released Rs 42.14 crore for 19 projects in Himachal Pradesh for promotion and development of tourism during 2007-08 and 2008-09. This includes infrastructure projects, IT project, fairs, festival and events. An amount of Rs 11.27 crore has been released for Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) at Shimla and Hamirpur and Food Craft Institute at Dharamshala, as well as under the scheme of Capacity Building of Service Providers.

Selja mentioned that the implementation of tourism projects is primarily the responsibility of the State Governments/UT Administrations. However, MoT monitors the progress of implementation through site visits and regular meetings with the state government officials.
