Orient-Express Hotels awarded over 7.5 million Pound in Cipriani trademark case

Hotel Cipriani (part of Orient-Express Hotels Ltd) has been awarded 15,71,091 Pound against Cipriani (Grosvenor Street) Ltd, the London restaurant and a further 60,68,736 Pound against Cipriani International SA of Luxembourg, both by way of an account of profits made from their acts of infringement of the trade mark ‘Cipriani. Cipriani SA is the parent company of the restaurant owning companies of the Cipriani family.

The hearing took place in the High Court in London before His Honour Justice Briggs. At a further hearing, Justice Briggs made an order to freeze the assets of Cipriani International SA on a worldwide basis.
