The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group will foray into hospitality education soon. The Group has plans to set up The Lalit Suri Hospitality Schools at two places in North India shortly. According to Dr Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson and Managing Director Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, these two schools will be set up near Badkal in Haryana and in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand.

Suri said, “We have been working on the Badkal project for almost two years now. We managed to obtain all the approvals and clearances recently. The foundation stone for the project will be laid in the next 10 to 15 days.” When asked about the courses the school plans to offer, she said that the institute will offer wide spectrum of management and degree courses, including four-year degree course in hospitality.

She informed that the hospitality school will offer all types of courses starting from basic level short-term courses to management programmes. To a query whether the Group will look for foreign affiliations, Dr Suri said that the Group will utilise foreign expertise for running ‘short-term’ courses. Commenting on the Dehradun project, Dr Suri said that the same will be taken up six months from now and will be completed around the same time as Badkal.

Earlier, participating in a panel discussion on the ‘Great HR Challenge before Tourism Industry’ at the Hotel Association of India organised Hoteliers’ Conclave along with Kapil Sibal, Union HRD Minister, Dr Suri said that the present restrictions are not conducive for private entrepreneurs to invest in the educational sector. Citing her own experience, Suri said that it took two years to obtain all approvals for the Badkal project.
