Still a long way to go
As we complete 64 years of Independence on 15th August 2011, we should analyse how the hospitality and tourism industry has grown compared to other industries. There was no better source to know the growth of the industry than to speak with stalwarts who have served this industry for more than four decades. Over the last six decades, India has progressed in science, technology, aeronautics, education, medicine, astronomy and many other fields. From pure politicians we have had qualified professionals holding ministerial berths. We had APJ Abdul Kalam, an aerospace engineer as the President and we have Manmohan Singh, ex-governor of Reserve Bank of India as the Prime Minister.
