Humanising Technology
The technology used today in the hospitality industry has changed vastly over the last few decades. With international brands venturing into India, and Indian brands venturing into the international market, technology has been the artery to day-to-day information. Technological innovations are taking place at a very fast rate; such that, what was a technological breakthrough yesterday is outdated today, while futuristic technology will be knocking on our doors tomorrow. The question to be answered is what can be considered as good technology? As a matter of fact, no one will be able to answer this question. Bill Gates, Chairman, Microsoft Corporation, puts it simply as, “The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency.”
